To last summer, and the many fruitful summers that may follow.

"An Ode to Summer Lost" is a 20" x 30" limited edition giclee print with two layers of screenprinting.

Process:
After completing the original gouache and pastel painting the piece was then professionally photographed and edited digitally. Prints are initially printed with a high quality printer on archival paper and are then finished with two layers of screenprinting. The first layer is a crystal white glitter that sparkles around the dancers in the gazebo. The second layer is applied gold leaf on the title in the border of the print. Prints are then hand deckled and signed and numbered in a limited edition of 165.

About the Print:
An Ode to Summer Lost was originally created in summer of 2020, an eerily empty time of the year compared to the summers that have come before. I found myself in an abandoned gazebo at the beginning of a pandemic that would continue for the foreseeable future and it reminded me of a piece I made a long time ago called "Trip the Light, Fantastic". It featured dancers enjoying a late summer evening with a proud gazebo lit up. I wanted to reference this well known print of mine by alluding to the ghosts of these dancers filling up this space once more. Almost as if it were a glimmer of a past and future finding itself in the present. The summer of 2020 was a time of serious reflection, it made me appreciate what we once had, the freedoms we took for granted and the future we could summon.
